An important finding to emerge from this men's group was that of the timing and interface of sequential gender-specific emotions. The men and women were moving through very similar stages but in a very different time sequence. The supporting, accepting, and secure environment of the men's group allowed for open expression of negative and ambivalent feelings. As the men and women were able to work toward resolving the crisis of rape, their relationship was enhanced and, in some cases, strengthened through the therapeutic intervention.
