This training manual, written for volunteers working in Tennessee correctional facilities, describes the State criminal, community, and juvenile justice systems and volunteer training, and provides volunteer job descriptions.
Abstract
Tennessee's volunteer services programs are premised on matching local needs and local resources. In 1979-80, volunteers contributed over 46,000 hours in 37 service activities throughout the State. New volunteers are required to participate in at least 3 hours of training prior to placement. Volunteers working directly with clients must undergo an additional 3 hours of training in human relations skills. The report describes the major correctional facilities in the State, gives an offender profile, and discusses the volunteer/client relationship. A glossary and 15 references are included.
