The information was derived from data provided by the 43 juvenile courts for Missouri counties. Many tables in the report are cross-tabulated by Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area and other counties. The tables show delinquency and status offenses in terms of the numbers of referrals made to the juvenile court. Delinquency and status referrals declined from 36,405 in 1980 to 34,866 in 1981. Child abuse and neglect referrals, the second major category of the report, numbered 6,820. Charts and tables comprise the bulk of the report. Additional tables are appended.
