Twenty-six personal FM radio transceivers suitable for use in police communications completed tests using standards adopted by the National Institute of Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice.
Abstract
The tests took place under normal operating conditions, and, as applicable, under conditions of high and low voltage, vibration, and extremes of temperature and humidity. The 26 transceivers were chosen following a survey of communications equipment manufacturers currently in production for law enforcement applications. With one exception, each transceiver was tested in the condition in which it was received from the manufacturer. Areas tested were receiver sensitivity, receiver squelch, receiver audio frequency, transmitter RF carriers, transmitter audio frequency modulation, antenna, and battery. Addresses of the manufacturers and extensive data tables presenting the test results for each transceiver are supplied.
