About 75 percent of crimes against the Criminal Code were property crimes. Ten percent of all crimes against the code were drunken driving offenses. Compared with other Nordic countries, Finland has a high homicide rate, with about 3 homicides for every 100,000 population. Alcohol often is connected to crimes of violence. In 1981, 3 out of 4 homicide offenders were intoxicated. Data are also given on assaults, robberies, theft, auto thefts, damage to property, and juvenile crime.
