This paper describes and analyzes the experiences of a burglary victim.
Abstract
It identifies three stages in the victimization experience and examines the 'victim' as a social role. It discusses the dynamics of the role, along with the feelings of powerlessness and personal control which eventuate from this role. Finally, the paper presents some of the paradoxes which are associated with the role of victim. A total of 10 references are provided. (Author abstract modified)
