Protective custody--a unit for the protection of inmates, is a drama between and with inmates, staff, and prison administrators.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore specific variables (a person's weight, height, age, and residence) to see if they significantly contributed to an inmate's decision to ask for protective custody. Eighty-eight inmates in protective custody throughout the year of 1979 at Kansas State Industrial Reformatory represented the sample. This study did support the notion that inmates in protective custody more often are young, short, light in weight, and non-Kansas residents. (Author abstract)
