This article explores common adolescent sexual behavior problems that have legal ramifications and the physician's role in approaching such problems.
Abstract
Various cases presenting sexual offense behaviors are described, as well as the implications for the patient as offender, and the parental and physician attitudes necessary to facilitate successful treatment outcomes. The article discusses intervention approaches and presents 2 cases from a group of 83 adolescent male sexual offenders referred to the Juvenile Sexual Offender Project in Seattle, Wash. The discussion and cases illustrate abnormal sexual behaviors which may come to the attention of physicians and other health care professionals. Tables and 24 references are included.
