Among the equipment recommended for maximizing police communications efficiency are telephones with a variety of automated features, telex terminals, word processors, telecopiers, cable television and video phones, computer graphics, and various types of computer-data processing and display. Thorough needs assessment should be conducted prior to the acquisition of new equipment and staff should be adequately prepared for optimal utilization of the acquired capabilities.
