Systems and devices for verbal, written, pictorial, and graphic communication are presented and assessed with regard to their practical value to police staff work.
Abstract
Among the equipment recommended for maximizing police communications efficiency are telephones with a variety of automated features, telex terminals, word processors, telecopiers, cable television and video phones, computer graphics, and various types of computer-data processing and display. Thorough needs assessment should be conducted prior to the acquisition of new equipment and staff should be adequately prepared for optimal utilization of the acquired capabilities.
