Alaska Judicial Council - Report to the Supreme Court and Legislature, Eleventh, 1981-1982

NCJ Number
89701
Date Published
Unknown
Length
22 pages
Annotation
A review of sentencing patterns for felony sentences in Alaska in 1980 by the Alaska Judicial Council finds that racial disparities have entirely disappeared.
Abstract
Moreover, sentence lengths have dropped from their high point in the late 1970's back to nearly the low levels of 1974, prior to a ban on plea bargaining. The report discusses other trends in sentencing patterns in Alaska, findings from a prison population impact analysis, and results of a study on fish and game violations. It also discusses judicial selection and retention. A summary of the council's recommendations since 1959 is appended.
