This report presents legislative reports recommending action on particular issues along with judicial statistics from the various types of courts.
Abstract
Legislative reports are presented on the provision of legal counsel to indigent defendants as a condition of imprisonment, payment rates for State-appointed counsel for indigents, restitution by parents or legal guardians of juvenile offenders, and elimination of appeals to the superior court for convictions in district and municipal courts. Legislative reports also address proposed legislation regarding the effective date of laws and legislation to suspend drivers licenses on failure to answer a complaint or pay a fine. Judicial statistics (caseloads) for the State supreme court, superior court, probate court, and district and municipal courts cover 1981 and 1982. Juvenile diversion programs are also briefly discussed.
