This study examined the attitudes and opinions of 1,442 Texas residents concerning issues related to criminal justice in Texas, as well their experiences with criminal victimization.
Abstract
Specific areas covered include punishment, fear of crime, effectiveness of the criminal justice system, and the extent to which the respondents were victims of one of more of these crimes: burglary of home, motor vehicle theft, other theft, robbery, assault with weapon, assault with body, rape or attempted rape, arson or attempted arson, vandalism or malicious mischief, and fraud. Also surveyed were the extent to which the respondents have been victims of crime during their lifetime, respondents' knowledge of other victims of crime, and gun control. Tables and narrative detail survey findings.
