A total of 1,774 beds were added to alleviate overcrowding in Florida correctional facilities in 1981-82. Thirty-one community correctional centers and women's adjustment centers were admitted to accreditation candidate status during this same period.

Problems and recommendations are discussed under the topics of correctional work and training programs, community-based alternatives to incarceration, facility overcrowding, health services, mental health services, etc. Another section notes the criminal justice, employment, and population trends affecting corrections.
