In 1982, a total of 909,975 crimes were reported to the State and municipal police, up 13.7 percent from the previous year. Criminal offenses increased 15.4 percent and traffic offenses only .6 percent. Burglary and other thefts greatly increased.
Abstract
A report of the Dutch Central Bureau of Statistics presents monthly statistics on criminal justice, law enforcement, and arson for April of 1983. An annual crime statistics review for 1982 and January of 1983 as well as separate statistics on shoplifting are also included. Tables report offenses and nonindictable offenses according to Province, groups of municipalities, and offense nature for 1982; data on persons taken into custody; data on State and municipal police personnel; categories of crimes known to the police; prison statistics; bankruptcies; and fines. Graphs trace the course of bankruptcies from 1979 to 1983. An overview of articles and tables published since January of 1980 is also supplied.
