The article is an adapted summary of a master's thesis defense. The thesis was designed to evaluate various forms of rulebreaking behavior of school boys in the seventh and eighth grades.
Abstract
It also tried to find the essential kinds of school stigmatization (labeling), to ascertain the relationship between this stigmatization and rulebreaking behavior, and to examine how their behavior and respective stigmatization are reflected in their sociometric situation. The thesis results point to certain forms of nonobjectivity, stereotyping, and the impossibility of effacing stigmatization in the school environment. The thesis affirms the social or institutional nature of deviant behavior. A total of 38 footnotes, tables, and 9 references are included. (Author abstract modified)
