Abstract
The automated system processes data in the areas of traffic, legal proceedings, personnel, logistics, finances, and management. The article notes the type of hardware being used, liaison with related (e.g., Ministry of Justice) information systems, and the system's application to police personnel management as well as to resource and manpower allocation. It also discusses the system's capabilities of crime data analysis and the significance of readily available data sources for various aspects of law enforcement. The Belgian system is deemed to be the first in Europe to employ mobile terminals and is evaluated as a significant enhancement to the effectiveness of police services.
