Criminal rehabilitation success is dependent upon, among other factors, the readiness of the offender to work and the willingness of the public to employ him. Therefore, work orientation awareness and job-skills program analogous to the needs of private industry are very important in halfway houses.
Abstract
The work orientation of the halfway house does in fact influence the readiness of clients to find employment to do well in the employment interview, and to subsequently secure a job. However, to ignore the great dropout rate of its participants is a gross oversight which may reverse the 'success' impression the halfway house program projects. (Author abstract modified)
