There were 985 noncompliances and 356 recommendations to improve jail operations. The 985 noncompliances identified during inspections of county jails were grouped into 2 categories: administration and building/equipment. Population statistics include those in the sentenced category and the bed capacity of county jails. There were 178 noncompliances with the Municipal Jail and Lockup Standards, and 155 recommendations were offered to improve these jail conditions. Data also depict 59 noncompliances noted during inspections of 13 independent county juvenile detention facilities (not part of county jail operations).
