Abstract
Separate chapters describe the organization of the provincial, territorial, and Federal courts and criminal prosecutions within each Province, territory, or jurisdiction maintained by the Federal Government. Each chapter has a 'Summary Facts' sheet highlighting the costs and manpower allocated to court operations and to criminal prosecutions. Data are shown in both dollars and person-years for four function categories: direct (in the courtroom), indirect (court case handling), support services (accommodation and training), and general administration. Each chapter has maps showing the permanent and circuit locations of the courts. Each provincial chapter concludes with the survey results for fiscal years 1980-81 and 1981-82 for court operations and for criminal prosecutions. Footnotes, figures, tables, a glossary, and the survey questionnaire are provided.
