Narrative information and tabular data pertain to Massachusetts parole field services and parole board hearings for calendar years 1981 and 1982.
Abstract
Part 1 describes the parole population under supervision in the seven regional offices of Parole Field Services. The parole population is examined primarily in terms of their needs and greatest risks associated with recidivism. The tables in this section depicting risks and needs involve only longer term parolees (6 months or more) on whom risk/needs assessments have been completed. A telephone survey of parole officers was conducted to obtain their opinions on the greatest risks and needs associated with short-term cases. Parolee demographic information is also given. Part 2 presents information on parole board votes at State and county institutions as well as pardons and commutations. Tables permit comparison of 1981 and 1982 votes.
