This report is a statistical description of the 1,695 individuals committed by the courts to a term of incarceration in the Massachusetts Department of Correction in 1981.
Abstract
The tables in this report contain information on the nature of the present offense, personal background characteristics, and criminal history of these individuals. The data show that there was a 37-percent increase in the number of commitments during the year from 1,234 in 1980 to 1,695 in 1981. Two figures and 46 tables are provided. (Author abstract modified)
