This is the instructor's manual for a training program teaching law enforcement officers procedures based on a better understanding of the many problems involved in providing good law enforcement services. It presents practices which have been used successfully in organized training programs in various sections of the country.
Abstract
It begins with tips on effective teaching and then presents both the learner and instructor material on opposite sides of the page for easy correlation. The training procedures that comprise the content of the course include patrolling; handling misdemeanors; arresting; testifying in court; firearms safety; revolver shooting; and handling fire scenes, disaster scenes, unlawful gatherings, traffic congestion, public inquiries, the mentally ill and alcoholics, emergencies such as childbirth, and crime prevention procedures. Still other topics covered in the course are prisoner booking and handling, report writing, handling juveniles, narcotics, human relations, and law enforcement liability. Illustrations are provided. Appendices contain sample forms, and a variety of pertinent informational reference material. The bibliography contains 25 items.
