Initially the text examines the role of society in the formation of sexual ideas and preferences, the concept of normalcy, the evolution of sexual mores in America, and the theoretical models of sexual deviancy. The author then deals with such nuisance crimes as voyeurism, exhibitionism, troilism, kleptomania, frottage, bestiality, coprolagnia, and pygmalionism. The differences between transvestism, transsexualism, and homosexuality are explained and several chapters are devoted to crimes against children, including pedophilia, incest, and child pornography. An examination of adult pornography follows. Dangerous sex crimes, such as lust murders, erotic asphyxiation, pyromania, sadism and masochism, cannibalism, and vampirism are then delineated. Concluding chapters discuss the concerns of victims, treatment of the sexual criminal, and societal change perspectives.
