U.S. registered aircraft hijacking statistics are summarized by year from 1961 to January 1, 1983. Location, type of carrier, and outcome are indicated for each incident. The chronology of hijackings of U.S. registered aircraft and the legal status of hijackers indicates the date, the name of the hijacker, flight number and type of aircraft, next scheduled stop, hijacker destination, weapons used, and sentence imposed.
