Abstract
Readers are advised to start any research project by discussing the project with a librarian, who can direct them to appropriate sources, arrange for interlibrary loans, and direct them to people who might be interested in granting an interview. Readers are also advised to become familiar with their library and how to use it. Lists of sources and of information on methods in criminal justice research include materials on attitude surveys, criminal justice research centers, research methods, grants and grantsmanship, publishing, criminal justice statistics, and writing techniques. Lists of directories, dictionaries, encyclopedias, and professional associations cover both general sources and those focusing on drugs or law enforcement. Research and reference sources listed include general sources, abbreviations, archives, biography, computer sources, conference publications, consultants, dissertations and theses, government reference sources, libraries, microfilms, nonprint media sources, pamphlets, photographs, reference books, statistics, and United Kingdom reference sources. Also provided are lists of drug bibliographies, periodicals, drug journals, sources for locating publishers' addresses, and abbreviations.
