The Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk, Inc. (VIBS) is funded by the Suffolk County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council with funds from the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration (LEAA).
Abstract
VIBS directs its efforts toward the victims of spouse abuse, rape and sexual assault. The services center on crisis intervention, counseling and advocacy for the victims and their families. During the first 12 months of operation, VIBS received more than 4600 calls on the hotline and 465 cases in the counseling center. The overwhelming majority of contacts, 96 percent, were from battered women. This paper will address a specific treatment model developed at VIBS. (Author abstract)
