Abstract
This work explores the crime, its consequences, and its prevention. It looks at the men who rape and their victims. It focuses on protective measures every woman can take and what to do after a rape occurs. The results of reporting a rape -- police interrogation, medical examination, and pursuing the legal case against the rapist -- are explored. The chances and effects of pursuing a rapist through the trial are noted. Services available for the rape victim from women's organizations, government action, and pioneering rape laws are discussed. A list of multiservice women's centers is included. (Publisher summary modified)
