The military, like certain religious and ideological groups, is widely regarded as an extreme example of the phenomena of re-socialization: a process in which an individual is trained in a lifestyle generally inconsistent with a previous lifestyle.
Abstract
In the military, those who fail to adequately internalize their new socialization process can be subject to a variety of negative sanctions, including counselling, non-judicial punishment, imprisonment, or discharge from the service. This paper discusses and describes a method of rehabilitation for the first-time offender that is intended to recreate and strengthen the original resocialization process: the Correctional Custody Facility.
