This bibliography contains over 1,100 references to materials on native Indian involvement in the criminal justice system and welfare issues in Canada and the United States which were published from the early 1900's through 1983.
Abstract
Documents in the bibliography relate to status and nonstatus Indians, Metic, and Inuit. References are arranged into 16 subject categories. These headings cover bibliographies, organizations, contemporary studies including Indians in transition and juveniles, jurisdictional issues and civil rights, crime and delinquency, the criminal justice system, police, courts, corrections, and adult parole and probation. Other categories include health and welfare; alcohol, including consumption patterns, relation to crime, and treatment; drug use and treatment; juvenile programs and services; suicide; and education. The document provides both an author index and an index organized by year of publication.
