The 19th volume in the series 'Treatises on Jurisprudence and the Social Sciences' deals with the problem of the validity of criminal prognosis and the bases on which legal sanctions are imposed.
Abstract
Drug abuse, sexual delinquency, drunk driving, and related areas of criminality are examined. The possibilities and limitations of individual prognoses in criminal law are discussed, with special consideration of requirements in the German Penal Code. Appropriate methods for making effective prognoses are outlined. Treatment of criminal recidivists is also discussed. Numerous footnotes, an index, and about 150 references are given.
