A modified version of the proceedings of an international seminar on endangered or difficult delinquent youth held in May 1979 is presented.
Abstract
Emphasis is on the concept of dangerousness, difficulties related to its diagnosis and prognosis, and the effectiveness of current treatment methods. A descriptive-comparative analysis of institutionalization policy and practice in the United States and Europe is included. Almost all seminar participants agree that closed institutions which merely lock up their inhabitants should undergo reform. A total of 20 papers is presented. The appendix contains a selective bibliography and a list of seminar participants.
