The purpose of the Uniform Police Patrol Vehicle Specifications is to secure the general acceptance and use of a standard format by the law enforcement agencies and their procurement departments. The adoption of a standard format should give assistance and guidance to the departments in securing the best equipment available.
Abstract
The individual department or agency using these specifications has the flexibility to select the type of equipment required. The specifications include the Police Patrol Vehicle Inspection Questionnaire, specifications for VASCAR installations, the roadability test, and two brake tests. A form collecting details for suspension and frame, alternator, battery, exterior color, interior color, brakes, radio suppression, wheels, tires, speedometer, steering, service and delivery, engine, performance, transmission, rear axle, cooling system, and other requirements is included.
