The adjustment of deviants in prison subculture was earlier examined and verified in terms of Prisonisation concept or the inmate value system in prisons.
Abstract
Rejecting the adequacy of this perspective on the basis of an empirical study conducted in three prisons, this paper suggests a new Self-Image Model for analysing Inmates' reformation. It also presents a new perspective for restructuring prisons to make them effective correctional institutions. (Author abstract)
