This report provides a statistical summary of cases reported to the Connecticut State Police Sex Crime Unit during 1982, including characteristics of the incident, the victim, and the accused.
Abstract
During 1982, 346 cases involving 375 offenders were reported. In these cases, the youngest victim was 3 years-old and the oldest 81. The youngest offender was age 12, and the oldest was 79. The report's crime section begins with a chart depicting the number of sexual assaults from 1973 to 1982 and then categorizes the 346 cases by type of crime and assault, time of day and day of week, approach used, relationship of assailant to victim, method used, whether a vehicle or burglary was involved, and solved versus unsolved. The report also provides basic demographic information about the victim and the accused. Additional data on the victim include victim's actions, when the crime was reported, how resistance was overcome, and medical assistance.
