The hypothesis that the police officers were more cynical than police recruits was examined.
Abstract
Niederhoffer's Scale of Police Cynicism was administered to a group of police recruits during the first week of their training and a group of police officers who had on average 20 years of service. As expected the mean cynicism score for the recruits was significantly lower than that for the police officers. Differences in attitudes between the two samples in relation to police cynicism were discussed. (Publisher abstract)
