The results of a national survey to determine the neeed for and desirability of a Ph.D. program in forensic science revealed that crime laboratory scientists and administrators favor the establishment of such a program by a margin of almost three to one.
Abstract
Seventy-nine percent of laboratory personnel who had already received doctoral degrees also favored establishment of a Ph.D. program. Forty-five percent of all those responding to the questionnaire who do not already hold a Ph.D. indicated interest in such a program, but only 6.1 percent would consider leaving their present positions to matriculate.
