This article discusses the findings of a 1982-83 national survey of correctional education programs in state penal institutions for adults.
Abstract
The study focused generally upon the nature of postsecondary (PSE) programs and the benefits of academic participation by inmate-students (as perceived by correctional education program directors). However, the major purpose of this study was to analyze the methods of program delivery by types of institutions of higher education contracting to provide PSE course offerings, and to determine which, if any, specific type of institution of higher education was the most efficacious in that endeavor.
