Abstract
John Rabun, manager of the Exploited Child Unit for the Jefferson County Department of Human Services in Louisville, Ky., discusses some of the highlights of Jefferson County's efforts on behalf of exploited children and pleads for the passsage of either Senate bill 1701 or House bill 3781. Frank Kleier, investigative agent for the Office of the Attorney General in Frankfort, Ky., discusses how his investigation of a food stamp trafficking case revealed the suspect's involvement in child prostitution, child pornography, and in weapons trafficking. Patrick Tamilia, a judge in Pittsburgh, Pa., suggests that programs of primary prevention be implemented. As a part of such programs, high school students could be instructed in parenting and taught about love and affection. The director of the Center for Victims of Violent Crimes in Pittsburgh, Pa., tells a story about the director of an organization established to help children from troubled families and broken homes who recruited these children for pornography and prostitution. The director of a foster care program and the executive director of Three Rivers Youth in Pittsburgh, Pa., discuss their organizations' efforts to help children and families. An article from 'Police' magazine on the sexual exploitation of children is included. Three illustrations are provided.
