An innovative self-defense and personal safety program for children has been developed in New York City.
Abstract
Under expert guidance children discuss and develop strategies for coping with dangerous situations and practice self-defense techniques. Assertiveness is also taught through the use of games. An outreach program aimed at professionals who work with children has also been developed. Both text and photographs are by Judith Burns. (Author abstract)
