A list of definitions is followed by a discussion of the statutory authority for jail standards and inspection. The standards cover training, records and data management, safety and security, inmate supervision, admission and release, classification, inmate management and separation, and inmate discipline. Also covered are special-management inmates, inmate communication, medical services, food service, inmate activities and services, inmate programs, temporary release, sanitation and living conditions, and facilities.
