Fiscal 1984 data are presented for Iowa police departments in all cities with populations over 5,000.
Abstract
For the fourth consecutive year, the Iowa Association of Chiefs of Police and Peace Officers, Inc., authorized a survey of all police departments in the State. The survey addresses areas of concern to the Association; namely, departmental budgets, manpower, personnel salaries and benefits, status of collective bargaining, workload, equipment, and attrition. All the cities with populations over 5,000 responded to the written questionnaire. Extensive data tables are provided. Footnotes and appendixes including letters of endorsement, the survey instrument, and a list of survey participants are also supplied. The second volume of this report presents data on the smaller communities.
