This report presents 1983 data on crime and arrests in Wisconsin.
Abstract
Offense and arrest trends from 1973 to 1983 are summarized, and statewide arrests by offense, by county and municipality, and by perpetrator (adult or juvenile) are provided for 1983. Statewide data for Index offenses and arrests are divided into the following categories: crime Index offenses summary analysis, violent offenses, property offenses, murder, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson. Violent crimes constituted only 4.5 percent of Index offenses for Wisconsin in 1983; property crimes made up 94.5 percent of all Index offenses. Among the property crimes, burglary, theft, and arson all declined from 1982 to l983. Motor vehicle theft increased by 13.3 percent. Ten tables and a glossary are included.
