Steinments's (1977) thesis that 'husband abuse' and wife abuse are comparable phenomena is explored in this paper.
Abstract
Using data from a national survey, the meaning of the violence for the victims is explored. It is shown that victimization affects the self-esteem of wives, but it is not related to the self-esteem of husbands. (Author abstract)
