Abstract
The Evaluation of Statewide Sentencing Guidelines project studied the development, implementation, and use of statewide sentencing guidelines and reported on the perceptions of criminal justice system personnel and inmates regarding those guidelines. The New Jersey Inmate Survey Data, 1980, one part of the research, includes 191 variables for each of the 157 inmates interviewed about their attitudes toward the appropriateness of penalties for various kinds of crimes and their perceptions of sentencing guidelines in concept and as operationalized in the New Jersey sentencing guidelines. Data were prepared using an SPSS program.
