After an introduction that describes study data, information processing, codebook information, and related publications, this manual presents a variable description list and the codebook for the data set from a study of the processing of criminal cases in 21 metropolitan courts.
Abstract
Data came from 400 to 600 criminal cases in each court. The cases were finally disposed of at the general jurisdiction trial court level in either the 1976 fiscal or calendar year. Information covered the disposition type, most serious charge of indictment, date of arrest, date of filing of charging instrument, date trial began, date of disposition, date of sentencing, and sample type.
