This codebook presents the questionnaire and coding information from a 1970 study to determine the effectiveness of the Legal Service Program and to make recommendations about whether to expand, cut back, or eliminate some agencies.
Abstract
Effectiveness was measured by agency performance in case handling, law reform, community economic development, representation of the poverty community, and community education. Variables include a wide variety of evaluative variables and information on the location, staffing, budget, and participants for each agency. The dataset contains information on 197 of the 201 legal service agencies funded by the Office of Economic Opportunity and operating in 1970. The data are available in two formats: a card image file and an OSIRIS dataset.
