The variable description list and codebook are provided for the study of the impact of New York's 1973 drug law reform, which prescribes mandatory and severe penalties for narcotic drug offenses at all levels and for the most serious offenses involving other types of drugs.
Abstract
An introduction describes the data, file structure, information processing, sampling, and codebook information. The impact study addressed developments from September 1973 to June 1976, when the law was in full force. The study investigated the effects of the 1973 predicate felony provisions on crime committed by repeat offenders. The predicate felony data file contains information for 441 cases, with 43 variables.
