The variable description list and codebook are presented for a data set taken from the Uniform crime Reports (UCR) for 1958-69 and the 1962, 1967, and 1972 County and City Data Books.
Abstract
The introduction describes the study and discusses file structure, data standards, and codebook information. Information taken from the UCR includes number of homicides, forcible rapes, robberies, aggravated assaults, burglaries, larcenies over $50, and auto thefts, as well as the total crime index. Selected variables describing population characteristics and city finances were taken from the County and City Data Books.
