Abstract
The instructional manual explains the organizational steps, including setting goals, naming a steering committee, explaining the project to court officials, informing the public of the project, and raising funds. It also gives guidelines on choosing the courts to be watched, developing forms, recruiting and training volunteers, scheduling and supervising the court watchers, gathering and using information, and presenting the results and recommendations to the court administrators and the community. Steps in planning and implementing public relations and evaluating the project are also listed. Press releases, a public service announcement, a brochure, scheduling material, an information form for potential court watchers, and the daily summary sheet used by court watchers are included.
