Abstract
The roles and responsibilities of the schools and educators are outlined. Physical and behavioral indicators are listed for physical and sexual abuse, neglect, and emotional maltreatment. These include indicators present in the victim and behavioral and emotional indicators in parents and the family. South Dakota laws regarding child abuse and neglect are presented. Guidelines for classroom discussions and a bibliography listing 27 references are supplied.
